Working together to support individuals with learning disabilities (LDs) and ADHD

LDAO works with valued partners who strengthen our ability to support children, youth, adults, families, and educators across Ontario. These partnerships help us provide evidence-informed resources, meaningful learning opportunities, and accessible supports for communities.

Current Partners

Ontario Ministry of Education

Ontario Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education provides funding for LD@school and TA@l’école. This partnership supports the development and delivery of high-quality resources and professional learning for educators across Ontario. All LD@school and TA@l’école resources are free for Ontario educators and are designed to strengthen understanding, instruction, and support for students with learning disabilities and ADHD.

Child Development Institute (CDI)

Child Development Institute (CDI)

LDAO partners with the Child Development Institute through the LD Mental Health Program to deliver the online course Partnering with Schools for Student Success. The course supports parents and caregivers in building effective relationships with schools and promotes a collaborative, informed approach to advocacy.

CDI also offers Learning Disabilities & Mental Health (LDMH) counselling and therapeutic recreation programs for children and youth.

Consortium Centre Jules Léger (CCJL)

Consortium Centre Jules Léger (CCJL)

LDAO has a collaborative relationship with the Consortium Centre Jules Léger. CCJL is a provincial French-language institution that provides specialized education for children and youth with severe learning disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind or low-vision, or deafblind.

Some of the resources developed by CCJL are featured on TA@l’école and have been highlighted at the TA@l’école Colloque. For example, the recent article and video Le bloc équilibré en mathématiques : Une clé pour soutenir les élèves ayant un trouble d’apprentissage supports educators in planning a math block that responds to the needs of students with learning disabilities.

Council for Exceptional Children Ontario logo

Ontario Council for Exceptional Children (Ontario CEC)

LDAO has a collaborative relationship with Ontario CEC, the Ontario unit of the International Council for Exceptional Children. Ontario CEC supports educators, researchers, and system leaders through professional learning, sector engagement, and the advancement of inclusive, equitable, and evidence-informed education.

Through this partnership, LDAO and Ontario CEC share and amplify professional learning and resources related to learning disabilities, ADHD, and other neurodiverse learning profiles. Collaboration includes reciprocal engagement in conferences and professional learning events. For example, LDAO-developed Learning Disability Awareness Month materials have been shared through Ontario CEC networks to support deeper understanding of LDs and effective classroom practice.

Scotiabank

Scotiabank

Scotiabank provided support for LD@home and helped LDAO offer accessible, family-friendly resources that strengthened awareness, learning, and success for children and youth with learning disabilities and ADHD.

Strategic Collaborations

LDAO Chapters

LDAO works closely with local chapters that provide direct support and community engagement across Ontario. Each chapter is independently governed but part of the LDAO network. View our chapters

Parent Conference Collaborators

LDAO supports and collaborates with local chapters on initiatives that strengthen family engagement and access to learning. The annual Parent Conference is developed and led by participating LDA chapters, and LDAO contributes through shared promotion and resource support. These collaborations help provide families with practical strategies, research insights, and accessible learning opportunities.

Shared Learning and Partner Events

LDAO participates in partner events that promote evidence-informed practice and support individuals with learning disabilities and ADHD. This participation includes helping increase access to learning opportunities for educators and sharing information across the province. A recent example is LDAO’s involvement in promoting the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC) National Conference, which brought together educators, professionals, and families from across Canada.

Sector Connections

LDAO maintains connections with a wide range of organizations that share an interest in accessibility, learning, employment, and community support. These connections help us stay informed, collaborate where appropriate, and explore new opportunities that strengthen outcomes for individuals with learning disabilities and ADHD. As LDAO expands initiatives such as LD@work, we continue to welcome conversations with new partners across multiple sectors.
