New Reading Course

Supporting Learners to Read: Making Sense of How Reading Works

Practical, self-paced learning for those who support developing readers

This course is designed for support staff, tutors, parents, caregivers, and others who support learners as they develop reading skills. It builds knowledge and confidence by explaining how reading develops, why some learners experience difficulty, and how evidence-informed instruction and support can make a meaningful difference.

Launch special

For a limited time, the course is available at a launch special rate of $175, a savings of $50 off the regular individual rate of $225.

Post-secondary student pricing is also available at $150 per participant.

Throughout the course, participants explore key components of skilled reading, including word recognition, language comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, morphology, orthography, and reading comprehension.

The course emphasizes practical, explicit, and responsive approaches that can be used across school, home, tutoring, and community settings.

  • Format: Self-paced online course
  • Time commitment: Approximately 8 to 10 hours, with additional time for reflection and application
  • Access: Six months from the date of enrollment
  • Certificate: Certificate of completion included

Participants will also engage with reflection prompts, examples, strategies, and resources that support application of learning and encourage strengths-based, learner-centred support.
