Important opportunity to give feedback on accessibility standards for Postsecondary Education

The Postsecondary Education (PSE) Standards Development Committee has made recommendations to the Minister for Seniors and Accessibility and their recommendations have been posted for feedback from the public.

The PSE Committee was tasked with developing recommendations for proposed accessibility standards for publicly funded colleges and universities. The Committee is comprised of people with disabilities, representatives from disability organizations, and experts from the post-secondary education sector.

Their initial recommendations report has now been posted on Ontario.ca for public review and feedback:

Public feedback will be welcomed for a period of 65 business days, concluding on September 29, 2021. The report and associated survey for public feedback can be viewed here:

To support both the Postsecondary and K-12 Education Committees, a Technical Sub Committee (TSC), made up of members from both these committees, has identified key barriers related to student transitions between different levels of the education sector (from K-12 to postsecondary), as well as the transition from education to employment and participation in the community.

The TSC report has been posted and can be found here:

The ministry is also accepting written submissions on the Committee’s behalf by email at: postsecondarySDC@ontario.ca

The Committee will review and consider all feedback before they finalize their recommendations and submit their final report to the Minister for Seniors and Accessibility for consideration.
