Description: Structured Literacy instruction has been shown to help students who have Learning Disabilities in reading. This presentation will clarify what Structured Literacy is and how it differs from the current balanced, comprehensive approach to literacy. You will also learn ways that you can support your child at home.

Presented by: Sherrie Rain, reading specialist

Sherrie Rain is a recently retired teacher and reading specialist. She began her career over 40 years ago and has taught remedial reading in a variety of settings: private schools for learning disabilities, Trillium Provincial Demonstration School, public school boards, a First Nation reserve school, and in private tutoring. She uses her knowledge of the cognitive neuroscience of reading to rectify reading problems.
