Workshops and Courses at LDAO

LDAO currently offers several online workshops and courses.  Workshops are self-paced online learning environments, similar to our courses, but without direct access to a moderator.  Though workshops are not facilitated, LDAO would continue to be available to participants to answer questions and concerns in a timely manner.

All of our online workshops and courses are delivered via LDAO's Online Learning Forum at www.access.learning.ldao.ca and www.ldaolearning.ca

Other informational workshops and conferences offered by our Chapters and other organizations are always listed in our Ontario LD Events section - select this link to visit that section of our website.

Payment Policies

Read below LDAO's policy document on payment, withdraws, and requirements for course and workshop completion. Some courses have a nominal fee; others are free. Occasionally, courses cost more - these are courses which have instructors and strict timelines for completion.

Refunds are not provided for the online workshops once a username and password has been provided.

Course Refunds

A sliding scale will be employed for refunds as follows:

Reenrollment

Participants who withdraw from the course and wish to reenroll in a subsequent course may do so with the express permission of the course facilitator. A reenrollment fee of $100 will be charged to participants for their first reenrollment. Participants who cancel and reenroll more than one time will be charge the full registration fee.

What you can expect from an online learning environment

There are many different types of online education opportunities. They range from self-paced courses to real-time, instructor-led courses.

The middle ground is loosely called 'mentored-learning'. 'Mentored-learning' can mean anything from sending a student a couple of emails to diligently monitoring a student's progress twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Email exchanges

Either instructors or students can initiate Email exchanges. Instructors respond as quickly as possible.

Discussion groups

Discussion groups, delivered via the course Bulletin Boards, provide students with the opportunity to take leadership on specific topics of their experience or issues of importance to them in their studies. Here too our instructors are involved, comment, support and link users.

Completion Certificates

Certificates of completion are offered for select courses and professional’s workshops. When you have finished a course or worskhop and submitted successful assignments, we will send you a Certificate of Completion which you can add to your portfolio.
