This workshop will demonstrate:

  • the power of traditional Assistive Technology,
  • the possibilities of mobile electronic devices (smart phones and tablet computers), and
  • the availability and use of web-based and mobile applications (Apps).

Participants will have an excellent opportunity to learn a variety of possible strategies that employ mobile devices and the potential for their use at home, school and in the workplace to enhance engagement, learning, confidence and independence.

Michael Kerr is an educator who has worked with students with special needs for over 20 years.

Michael has been described as a ‘visionary at utilizing mobile technology’ for use by individuals with learning challenges affecting reading and writing. He is an advocate for individuals with learning
disabilities, promoting the use of assistive technologies and access to these powerful tools. Michael shares findings, strategies and information on his blog kerrlaboration.blogspot.com
