SEAC Circulars
About SEAC
The Education Act section requires every district school board and school authority to establish a Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC). SEACs are standing committees of the school board and membership consists of representatives of the board (trustees) and one representative from each of the associations or organizations of parents that operates locally (up to a total of 12). SEAC representatives provide input on the particular needs of each association’s exceptionality group, bring valuable information from parents in their associations on gaps in service, and advise the board on how the board’s special education programs and services need to be improved.
LDAO chapters have SEAC representatives and alternates on most of the school boards in the communities they serve. In order to keep LDAO SEAC reps and alternates informed, LDAO produces a SEAC Circular five times a year. Copies of recent LDAO SEAC Circulars, and their supplementary documents, are available below.
